Ausseer Dirndl with Kittlblech

Ausseer Dirndl with a linen bodice and cotton skirt and a black Kittlblech. The boning worked into the bodice conjures a slender silhouette. The traditional colours reflect the nature and folklore of the region for which the Dirndl stands as a symbol, that of the Ausseerland in the Salzkammergut.

Ausseer colours

The deep green stands for the woods and meadows of the Ausseer Land, the delicate pink for the Almröschen (alpine roses) and the characterful purple for the gentian. Gössl has taken these meaningful colours and their tradition into its own DNA as a fixed star.

Kittlblech

One speaks of a Kittlblech when the skirt of the Dirndl has a doubled hem. This is a visible finish of about 3mm at the hem of the Kittl – that is, the skirt – in a colour differing from the Kittl.
