Jacquard

Twenty years after the invention of the mechanical loom in 1785, the pioneering spirit of the French silk weaver Joseph-Marie Jacquard brought about a groundbreaking innovation. He found a way to raise and lower the warp threads individually for each weft thread. What sounds highly technical opened up the possibility of weaving patterns of a fineness hardly imaginable until then into the cloth. That historical Jacquard looms are still used today to make authentic fabrics for church, theatre and Tracht stands as a symbol of the inventor's success. At a local weaving mill, Gössl combines the Jacquard technique with traditional patterns of Tracht.

Dupion silk

Dupion silk is a noble natural silk with a characterful, slightly irregular structure that comes from the spinning of double cocoons. Its lively shimmer gives the fabric particular depth and expression. At the same time it is pleasantly firm to the hand, holds its shape and always appears elegant – ideal for high-quality, festive Gwand.

Piped buttonholes

Piped buttonholes are a particularly fine form of construction, in which the buttonhole is precisely bound with narrow strips of fabric. They are regarded as a mark of high tailoring craft, as they are worked by hand with great care and give the Gwand an elegant, quiet and durable finish.
