Blaudruck Dirndl set with studs

The Dirndl, with a bodice of linen and a skirt of shot Dupion silk, appears in a true, intense Blaudruck blue. Derived from traditional chip carving, artfully shimmering motifs of metal studs have been set on the front, harmonising perfectly with the strong Blaudruck blue. A hand-worked herringbone stitch adorns the centre back.

Blaudruck – intense and expressive

The Blaudruck (blue print) has a long tradition in Austria. It is a true craft, perfected early on and preserved across centuries. With its strong colour and its contrast, traditional Blaudruck has an immediate, fascinating presence. The many details that make up genuine Blaudruck arise first and foremost from the demanding production process. For what is printed is precisely what will later not be dyed. Traditional motifs are printed on in precise handwork with pure acacia resin. The natural drying process that follows takes up to ten weeks. Only once it is certain that the resin can withstand the dye completely is the fabric immersed in the dye bath. Gössl takes up this heritage of textile refinement humbly, yet does not shy away from adding further chapters to this success story and enriching what is traditional in fabrics and refinement techniques with new variations. Combined with new colours, Gössl shows Blaudruck as the versatile all-rounder of Tracht.

Dupion silk

Dupion silk is a noble natural silk with a characterful, slightly irregular structure that comes from spinning double cocoons. Its lively shimmer gives the fabric particular depth and expression. The made-to-measure Dirndl

Every Gössl Dirndl is made with particular devotion; it is considered tailoring craft. With the help of seam allowances at the side seam, the waist, the shoulder and the skirt, the Dirndl can easily be altered to two further sizes – one larger, one smaller. In this way the favourite model is perfectly adjusted to your own figure with little effort. Every woman receives a made-to-measure Dirndl that fits.
