Farmhouse linen

In the Alpine region, Original farmhouse linen has long been an important part of cultural history. For linen cloth was omnipresent in everyday life: bed linen, table linen, Gwand – everywhere farmhouse linen showed its singularity through its characteristic structure. The thickenings of the spun yarns also stand out in the woven cloth, and its changeable appearance makes farmhouse linen unmistakable and singular. Gössl takes the tradition and individuality of this cloth and makes it the basis of new ideas with old strength.

Hand printing

A hand-printing technique for textiles has been known since the 18th century. Its basis is the Model, a solid block of wood into which the Model carver drives fine brass pins according to the motif. In demanding handwork, the negative of the sought-after motifs is created in this way. Correctly stretching the fabric, carefully inking the Model and finally placing it on the cloth with precision are what make up the skill of a true master of hand printing. A slight offset in the pattern, the so-called Modelzaumstond, proves the authenticity of the hand printing and makes every one unique. The valuable Modeln were mostly passed on from generation to generation, yet motifs are lost again and again. Every surviving, unforgotten motif is therefore all the more valuable. Gössl has devoted itself to the singularity of the patterns themselves and digitised them. In this way the old motifs are preserved and can at the same time be shown creatively in new proportions.

The made-to-measure Dirndl

Every Gössl Dirndl is made with particular devotion; it is considered tailoring craft. With the help of seam allowances at the side seam, the waist, the shoulder and on the skirt, the Dirndl can easily be altered to two further sizes – one larger, one smaller. In this way the favourite model is perfectly adjusted to your own figure with little effort. Every woman receives a made-to-measure Dirndl that fits.

The perfect fit of the Gössl Dirndl

At Gössl, the Dirndl bodice (Laib) has been developed further for decades. The boning sewn into the bodice conceals every unwanted crease and guarantees a perfect fit when standing as well as when sitting. The fine Paspel (piping) at the back additionally emphasises the figure in a very charming way and ensures that the Dirndl always sits correctly.
