The hemp

Hemp is the first plant cultivated by human beings and is found in almost every part of the world. The hemp fibre, obtained from dried hemp straw through a series of working steps, looks back on a tradition in textile making that is thousands of years old. Somewhat forgotten in recent decades, its characteristic properties are valued by Gössl, which makes it the basic fabric of its ideas. Hemp is light and supple, yet holds its shape and hardly creases.

Linen

is regarded as the oldest woven clothing fabric. Finds of the first garments are thousands of years old. The knowledge of its singular working has nevertheless been preserved across many epochs into our own time. Since the ancient cultures of Egypt, Rome and Greece, the making of traditional linen has hardly changed. After the harvest, the flax is set up in sheaves and dried. In a subsequent water bath the individual fibres are released. Breaking and beating the stalks brings out the single fibres, which are spun into firm threads – the basic fabric for every classic linen weave.

The Henndorfer ruffle

The Henndorfer ruffle, also known as a rose ruffle, is widely loved above all as a decorative trim on the Dirndl. Playful and yet never obtrusive, it gives even plain Dirndls a youthful appearance. The Henndorfer ruffle can be worked in one or two colours and in various sizes.

The made-to-measure Dirndl

Every Gössl Dirndl is made with particular devotion; it is considered tailoring craft. With the help of seam allowances at the side seam, the waist, the shoulder and the skirt, the Dirndl can easily be altered to two further sizes - one larger, one smaller. In this way the favourite model is perfectly adapted to your own figure with little effort. Every woman receives a made-to-measure Dirndl that fits.
