The Hexenstich

The hand-set Hexenstich (witch stitch) is Gössl's homage to craftsmanship in the old tradition. It marks the true worth of the Gwand. According to popular belief, the name derives from a witch's oath sworn to the devil, in which she was to raise her left hand. Since the cross stitch is worked from left to right, the thread has to be pulled smooth to the left, which brings about the characteristic movement of the hand.

Piped buttonholes

Piped buttonholes are a particularly fine form of construction, in which the buttonhole is precisely bound with narrow strips of fabric. They are regarded as a sign of high tailoring craft, as they are worked by hand with great care and give the Gwand an elegant, quiet and long-lasting finish.
