Joseph Francis Rock
Joseph Francis Rock (1884–1962) was an Austrian-American botanist, geographer and ethnologist from Wien who is regarded as a pioneer of the exploration of Hawaii. With more than 28,000 collected plant specimens and his standard work Indigenous Trees of Hawaii, he left a lasting mark on the botanical study of the Pacific islands. Alongside his work in Hawaii, he carried out intensive research in South-East Asia, particularly in China and Yunnan. Today the Rock-Park in Wien, among other things, recalls his extraordinary life's work.
Piped buttonholes
Piped buttonholes are a particularly fine form of construction, in which the buttonhole is precisely bound with narrow strips of fabric. They are regarded as a mark of high tailoring craft, as they are worked by hand with great care and give the Gwand an elegant, quiet and durable finish.
