The jacket with stand collar made of Original Bauernleinen, the traditional farmhouse linen, received its unique structural colouring in the traditional Blaudruck bath. The thickenings in the yarn of the Original Bauernleinen give the fabric a slightly relief-like structure that lets the intense blue shine in different facets. Rich relief embroidery in the Lederhosen pattern and metal buttons with a circular pattern complement the unique colouring to form a desirable overall composition.
Bauernleinen
The Original Bauernleinen has long been an important part of the cultural history of the Alpine region. Linen cloth was omnipresent in everyday life: bed covers, table linen, Gwand – everywhere the Bauernleinen showed its singularity through its characteristic structure. The thickenings of the spun yarns also emerge in the woven fabric, its changeable appearance makes the Bauernleinen distinctive and unmistakable. Gössl takes the tradition and individuality of this fabric and makes it the basis of new ideas with old strength.
The Blaudruck – intense and expressive
The Blaudruck, the traditional indigo resist printing, has a long tradition in Austria. It is a true craft that was perfected early on and has been preserved over centuries. With its strong colour and its contrasting effect, the traditional Blaudruck immediately shows a fascinating presence. The numerous details that make up a genuine Blaudruck arise above all from the demanding production process. For what is printed is precisely what will not be dyed later. Traditional motifs are printed on in precise handwork with pure acacia resin. The natural drying process that follows takes up to ten weeks. Only when it is certain that the resin can completely withstand the colour is the fabric dipped into the dye bath. Gössl takes up this heritage of textile refinement humbly, yet does not shy away from adding further chapters to this success story and enriching traditional fabrics and refining techniques with new variations. Combined with new colours, Gössl shows the Blaudruck as the versatile all-rounder of Tracht.
