The lapel jacket in linen shows the full power of the blue-print dye bath. The intense dye penetrates the linen and gives it a unique, lively structure. The light deerskin collar lends the jacket a refined contrast, and the gleaming metal eyelet buttons complete the ensemble.
Blue printing – intense and expressive
Blue printing has a long tradition in Austria. It is a true craft, perfected early on and preserved across the centuries. With its strong colour and its contrast, traditional blue printing has an immediately fascinating presence. The many details that make up genuine blue printing arise above all from the demanding production process. For what is printed is precisely what will later not be dyed. Traditional motifs are printed on in precise handwork with pure acacia resin. The natural drying process that follows takes up to ten weeks. Only once it is certain that the resin can fully withstand the colour is the fabric dipped into the dye bath. Gössl takes up this heritage of textile refinement humbly, but does not shy away from adding further chapters to this success story and enriching traditional fabrics and refining techniques with new variations. Combined with new colours, Gössl shows blue printing as the versatile all-rounder of Tracht.
