The narrowly cut tie in pure Jacquard silk receives its singular colouring in the traditional Blaudruck dye bath. The intense colour brings out the Jacquard pattern in fine nuances. A slim cut meets a finishing method rich in tradition.
Blaudruck – intense and expressive
Blaudruck, the traditional blue resist printing, has a long tradition in Austria. It is a true craft that was perfected early and has been preserved over centuries. With its strong colour and its contrast, traditional Blaudruck shows a fascinating presence at once. The many details that make up genuine Blaudruck arise above all from the demanding production process. For what is printed is precisely what will later not be dyed. Traditional motifs are printed on in precise handwork with pure acacia resin. The natural drying process that follows takes up to ten weeks. Only when it is certain that the resin can completely withstand the colour is the fabric dipped into the dye bath. Gössl takes up this heritage of textile finishing humbly, yet does not shy away from adding further chapters to this success story and enriching traditional fabrics and refining techniques with new variations. Combined with new colours, Gössl shows Blaudruck as the versatile all-rounder of Tracht.
Jacquard
Twenty years after the invention of the mechanical loom in 1785, the pioneering spirit of the French silk weaver Joseph-Marie Jacquard led to a groundbreaking innovation. He found a way to raise and lower the warp threads individually for each weft thread. What sounds very technical opened up the possibility of weaving patterns of a fineness hitherto barely imaginable into the fabric . That historical Jacquard looms are still used today to produce authentic fabrics for church, theatre and Tracht stands as a symbol of the inventor's success. Gössl links the Jacquard technique with traditional patterns of Tracht.
