The Hexenstich

The hand-set Hexenstich is Gössl's homage to craftsmanship in the old tradition. It marks the true value of the Gwand. According to popular belief, the name derives from the oath a witch swore to the devil, for which she was to raise her left hand. Since the cross stitch is worked from left to right when embroidering, the thread has to be drawn smooth to the left, which brings about the characteristic movement of the hand.

The tailor's arrowhead

The tailor's arrowhead is a truly traditional trick. It has always been used to stabilise vents and the intersections of seams and to adorn them at the same time. At Gössl it is worked in the traditional way, genuinely by hand.

Piped buttonholes

Piped buttonholes are particularly finely bound buttonholes, in which narrow strips of fabric neatly enclose the edges. This traditional tailoring technique provides stability and an elegant, precise appearance. It is regarded as a sign of high-quality workmanship and gives the Gwand a quiet, noble and long-lasting presence.
