Blaudruck – intense and expressive

In Austria, Blaudruck has a long tradition. It is a true craft, perfected early on and preserved over the centuries. With its strong colour and its contrast, traditional Blaudruck has an immediate, fascinating presence. The many fine points that make genuine Blaudruck what it is arise above all from the demanding production process. For what is printed is precisely what will later not be dyed. Traditional motifs are printed on with pure acacia resin in precise handwork. The natural drying process then takes up to ten weeks. Only once it is certain that the resin can fully withstand the dye is the fabric dipped into the dye bath. Gössl takes up this heritage of textile finishing with humility, yet does not shy away from adding further chapters to this success story and from enriching the traditional in fabrics and finishing techniques with new variations. Combined with new colours, Gössl shows Blaudruck as the versatile all-rounder of Tracht.
