Brennende Liab

The Stutzen show traditional cable patterns such as the Bandzwickel, the Schlangenmodel and the Brennende Liab in a chosen combination, with a diamond pattern finishing the turn-over cuff. The plated knit and the light colour melange bring out the traditional patterns particularly impressively.

Plating

Plating is a particularly refined form of technical knitting. The needle guidance of the machine can be altered so that one yarn colour comes to the fore and a second yarn colour steps into the background. In this knitting variant the plating thread overlays the base thread. Depending on the composition of the yarns used, the result is a finely articulated colour effect, ranging from a restrained gradation of colour with tonally chosen yarns to wondrous colour melanges with a subtle contrast. The demanding overlaying of the two threads also creates a lively, three-dimensional knit, which brings out the knitted patterns and motifs with great expression.

Brennende Liab

The "Brennende Liab" is a traditional, demanding knitting pattern in Stutzen as well as a well-known embroidery motif on festive Tracht, especially in Salzburg. It symbolises fidelity, love of home and faith, often rendered through geranium motifs, and is a firm part of the regional folk culture .
