Laser-engraved vine motif after Mauthner's Raspelwerk
This smooth leather belt was inspired by the motifs of Konrad Mauthner. The scrolling motifs derived from the richly detailed ornamentation of his Steirisches Raspelwerk were transferred onto the belt as laser engravings and then worked out in white for contrast. The belt breathes the spirit of true folk art.
Raspelwerk
The Steyerische Raspelwerk is a traditional collection of songs by the Styrian folklorist Konrad Mautner. Published in 1910, it gathers classic Gasslreime, quatrains and Gstanzln from the Ausseerland. With a print run of only around 400 copies at the time, the book has today become a sought-after antiquarian rarity. With this valuable songbook Mautner preserved not only folk poetry: he adorned every one of his sheets of music with lovingly detailed miniatures and playful floral borders. A treasury of historical motifs which, used by Gössl on the Gwand , delight just as much today.
