The traditional cardigan for men in soft virgin wool with cotton is close-fitting and impresses with its purl/purl knit on the body, combined with patterns and cable patterns on the sleeves knitted in plating with a slight contrast. The buttons of genuine horn show the imperial double-headed eagle.
Purl/purl knit
Purl-purl knit is a traditional way of knitting in which only purl stitches are worked. This creates an even, lightly textured surface with a soft handle. The technique gives the knitted garment particular elasticity, dimensional stability and a quiet, hand-crafted appearance.
Plating
Plating is a particularly refined form of technical knitting. The needle guidance of the machine can be altered so that one yarn colour is brought to the fore and a second yarn colour recedes into the background. In this knitting variant the plating thread lies over the base thread. Depending on the composition of the yarns used, the result is a finely drawn colour effect ranging from a discreet gradation of colour with tonally chosen yarns to wondrous colour melanges with a subtle contrast. The demanding overlaying of the two threads also creates a lively, three-dimensional knit, which brings out the knitted patterns and motifs expressively.
