The sleeveless dress is knitted from fine cotton yarn and shows a lightly fitted silhouette. The bodice is worked at the neckline with traditional ajour and bell patterns. The skirt falls in a slightly flared, swinging line. Cleverly knitted-in vertical pin tucks give it elasticity and volume.
Ajouré
"Ajouré" is French for "openwork". In textile craft, ajour or eyelet embroidery describes highly complex, lace-like knits formed by increasing and decreasing stitches as well as by individual stitch crossings. The result is filigree patterns with textured surfaces, in which fine holes and bars merge into an impressive melange. The air permeability that arises from this makes ajour knitwear a welcome companion, especially in summer.
Bell patterns
are a variant of ajour knitting in which the stitches form small bells at regular intervals.
