The tie belt serves as a substitute for the apron with the Dirndl or as an additional adornment worn over an apron. It also combines wonderfully with dresses and blouses. Thanks to its flexible lacing it can be adjusted precisely and charmingly emphasises the waist.

Corded quilting

Corded quilting (Schnurstepperei) is one of those outstanding forms of classic textile art. The tailor lays a piping cord beneath the outer fabric and quilts it with a twin needle that runs along the left and right of the cord. In this way the fabric gains a relief that appears embossed.

When the making of precious dresses was still pure handwork in the 18th century, it was not only the talented tailor who played a significant role. Often enough a new dress was passed on, after the tailoring had been completed, to the milliner, who refined the fabric with fashionable details through precision, skill and inventiveness. In Tracht these eye-catchers are known as Auszier, the decorative trim, which with traditional patterns and forms tells of the origin and customs of the Tracht.
