Cable knit for girls

The slightly waisted children's jacket, knitted in two colours using the plating technique from soft virgin wool, shows the variety and the high standards of traditional knitting motifs. Rice grain, Glockerl and cable patterns complement one another beautifully. The edges are worked in small scallops. Genuine mother-of-pearl buttons complete the jacket.

Plating

Plating is a particularly refined form of technical knitting. The needle guidance of the machine can be altered so that one yarn colour comes to the fore while a second yarn colour recedes into the background. In this knitting variant the plating thread overlays the base thread. Depending on the composition of the yarns used, the result is a delicate colour effect, ranging from a restrained gradation of colour with tonally chosen yarns to wondrous colour melanges with a subtle contrasting effect. The demanding overlay of the two threads also creates a lively, three-dimensional knitted appearance that brings out the knitting patterns and motifs with great expression.
