The linen pocket square from the Gössl Edition shows the precious Blaudruck process, the traditional indigo resist printing, with finely structured geometric patterns and a fascinating wealth of contrast.
The Blaudruck – intense and expressive
The Blaudruck has a long tradition in Austria. It is a true craft, perfected early on and preserved over centuries. With its strong colour and its contrast, the traditional Blaudruck immediately shows a fascinating presence. The many details that make up genuine Blaudruck arise above all from the demanding manufacturing process. For what is printed is precisely what will later not be dyed. Traditional motifs are printed on in precise handwork with pure acacia resin. The natural drying process that follows takes up to ten weeks. Only once it is certain that the resin can fully withstand the colour is the fabric dipped into the dye bath. Gössl takes up this heritage of textile refinement humbly, yet does not shy away from adding further chapters to this success story and enriching traditional fabrics and refinement techniques with new variations. Combined with new colours, Gössl shows the Blaudruck as the versatile all-rounder of Tracht.
