The mother-of-pearl

The Hexenstich

The hand-set Hexenstich is Gössl's homage to craftsmanship in the old tradition. It marks the true worth of the Gwand. According to folk belief, the name derives from a witch's oath to the devil, for which she is said to raise her left hand. Since the cross stitch is worked from left to right when embroidering, the thread has to be drawn smooth to the left, which brings about the characteristic movement of the hand.
