The Hexenstich
The hand-set Hexenstich, the witch's stitch, is G\u00f6ssl's homage to craftsmanship in the old tradition. It marks the true worth of the Gwand. According to folk belief, the name derives from the oath of a witch to the devil, in which she is said to raise her left hand. Since cross stitch is worked from left to right, the thread has to be drawn smooth to the left, which brings about the characteristic movement of the hand.
