The hand-set Hexenstich is Gössl's homage to craftsmanship in the old tradition. It marks the true value of the Gwand. According to popular belief, the name derives from the oath of a witch upon the devil, who is said to raise her left hand while doing so. Since the cross stitch is worked from left to right when embroidering, the thread has to be drawn smooth towards the left, which brings about the characteristic movement of the hand.
